Webinar: Moving Up! Practical Tips for Aspiring Leaders

Thinking of moving up inside your agency? Wondering how you can become a Program Director, an Executive Director or a Community Leader? This webinar will provide practical tips and advice from current program and agency leaders for non-profit staff who are interested in learning more about how they can move up to a leadership position. Recognizing the importance of building diversity in leadership positions, the webinar will share stories from agency and community leaders, including women of color, to encourage others to become the leaders they aspire to be.
Presenters
Nancy Castellanos-Garcia is the Program Director at Abriendo Puertas. Nancy graduated from Wilmington University with a degree in Psychology and has been part of People’s Place Abriendo Puertas Program since 2009. Nancy is known as a strong advocate who is dedicated to serving the state’s vulnerable community. She is passionate about leading her staff in educating the community about domestic violence and serving as a mentor to sustain human services professionals throughout their careers.
Cierra Hall-Hipkins is a shining example of how a single individual can positively impact their community. Possessing a strong commitment to improving the lives of those around her, Cierra has dedicated her career to helping others. Cierra has a bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and a wealth of experience in leadership positions. She has over 10 years of experience in leadership positions at multiple nonprofit organizations. In 2019, Cierra co-founded Network Connect, where she currently serves as the Executive Director. Cierra is also a Board Member for the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence and has successfully spearheaded initiatives to expand organizations’ reach. Her commitment to improving the well-being of others was recognized in 2022 by Technically Delaware, who named her the Culture Builder of the Year.
Sue Ryan is the Executive Director of the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence, a statewide, nonprofit organization and coalition of organizations, groups and individuals that strive to promote conditions that prevent and eliminate domestic violence by educating its members and community partners; providing informational resources to the community; and advocating as a strong, unified voice for victims/survivors of domestic violence, children who are affected, domestic violence programs and victim service providers. Ms. Ryan has over 25 years of experience working within the non-profit field, working with diverse communities, all committed to social justice. She has served as an attorney, program developer, administrator, and advocate, assisting homeless persons, refugees, families struggling with poverty and victims of crimes. Ms. Ryan obtained her Bachelor of Science from Boston College and her law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
